Going Down the Memory Lane
Friday, August 24, 2007

Bored with life, I took a stroll down the memory lane again.

This time round, I went through a file I haven't touched for more than a year. This file.. contains snippets of my childhood. You'll be amazed how many newspaper clippings and pages from magazines this 40-folder ugly, green thing can hold.

First page: A Matrix Reloaded poster-page from 8days. The date: 17 May 2003. Uhhuh. The date of The Matrix Reloaded release. That's like.. 4 years ago.

Second page till tenth page: More Matrix related articles. In fact, I musta've be crazy about Keanu Reeves. The first ten pages were all dedicated to Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. All I lacked was the original Matrix's articles, that's all. I have movie reviews in there, Matrix game ads [oh wow] and one advertisement selling the collectors' edition of The Matrix trilogy, with 10dvds [gasp!], undoubtedly filled to the brim with extras and behind-the-scenes, selling at a freaking 100bucks. I still remember, it was my dream then to own the whole set. (!!) I am so glad that now I've directed my impulsive buying behaviour towards something more worthwhile. [yeah right]

11th page: One folder packed full with Pirates of the Caribbean clippings, Dead Man's Chest postcards, stickers etc. But those goodies weren't there before July last year, which was the last time I touched this file. Digging through the pages, found out that it originally held one single page of movie reviews, of films like X-Men II and Legally Blonde II, but was then covered by a page advertising Maple Story [Another gasp!] Ludibrium, and then it was again buried by layers of Pirates of the Caribbean stuffs.

12th page: Erm this is the original page I was talking about. Oh now I know why I kept this. There's a teeny weeny bit of the Matrix Reloaded review there.

13th page: Contents page of Lime's May 2003 issue. Apparently, there's a small picture of the cover of the mag. It's Neo's face, man. And there's supposed 'Trix of Trade article in page 44, it says. Oh, and I see a picture of 5566 too. [Rolls eyes]

14-15th page: Hah! Two pages on Keanu Reeves! They talked about his older movies as well. Like.. Speed! Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure! [Woots I loved Speed. Oh wait. I still do, right?] Hmm the Seoul Garden ad says that a Kid's buffet meal cost $8.88. Do you see loads of 'fa's? My eyes are going 8.8 Must be because it was Chinese New Year.

16th page: Eh a Matrix dvd advertisement? I see loads of Agent Smiths! [My dear Hugo Weavings the Elrond. XD]

17th page: X-Men related things. Mostly X-Men II. [Aww Wolverine!] Didn't know I used to like them. Or did I?

18th page: An article on sequels from Zaobao. I think there were many sequels that year, just like there were many remakes last year. This year is another sequel-year. It's just a recurring thing. Like leap years. That year, XXX, X-Men, Terminator III, LOTRs, Matrix, Dumb and Dumber, Fast and Furious, Harry Potter sequels were made, plus some more. Oh and they said I Not Stupid II wouldn't be possible. I'm sure.

19-20th, 22-29th page(s): All about Lord of the Rings! Premieres, reviews, articles, that sort of things. Oh the critics loved it. They raved about it. They went head over tail with it. I guess they deserve the 9 Oscars. [Is it? My memory is failing me. Must be getting old.]

21th: Once again, The Matrix pops up when you least expect it.

30-31th: Can you believe it? Linkin Park and Jay-Z. H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A! Collision Course, man. Get ready for some nerve-numbing encore! [Shit you won't hear it from me again, but I used to be able to recite the whole rap. 0.0 Like how I memorized the Black Eyed Peas raps. 0.0X2]

32-37th: Random clippings of Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Bad boys, Mr and Mrs Smith. Oh, and Jude Law. Cold Mountain, anyone? [Finally watched it last year. It is.. not really THAT good.]

38-39th: MTV Asia Awards Attendees. Featuring Linkin Park, Blue, Missy Elliot.. You know that sort. And a small clipping of the book Underworld. Yep you heard it correct. The book, not the movie. Oh I loved the book. I loved the prequel book too! It's called Blood Brothers. Tells us why the Lupins hated the Vampires. The start of all the feud. Because of a.. Vamp princess and a Lupe servant. Sounds dumb but the book is great. The movie was.. sucky. [And rated.] Such a disappointment.

Last page: My Sec1 orientation booklet! I haven't thrown it away. 0.0 I think I'm in love with the school, after all. Heh.

All the loose pages that are NOT filed but conveniently slotted at the back: CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS. My whole life is there. I have five 18sky and Running Havens stickers, courtesy of Alice who bought them from China. A CSI Miami Season 4 advert, a full page Liverpool F.C. article, many pages of American Idol [and Simon Cowell], some Harry Potter articles, Maroon 5 articles, eh a Westlife's Bryan going solo article, Sum 41, Green Day, Princess Diaries, Cinderella Story, Black Eyed Peas, Blue, Simple Plan, Ryan Seacrest, Final Destination, Closer, Mr and Mrs Smith, Howl's Moving Castle, Z-pop.. Like basically everything I loved, liked, okayed, hated. No X-Files though. [Since Mr Spooky is even more ancient than The Matrix. Boy, I do miss those days watching clips of X-files fanvids. Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely vid kinda made me like Backstreet Boys.] No MayDay or Sodagreen too. I have another folder for such stuffs now. Maybe a few years down the road, I'll look through THOSE.

[Can't wait for Sweeney Todd! It's a clash of Captain Jack Sparrow and Severus Snape, and how interesting that is! Go JDepp, go Alan Rickman!]
